Karin Spitfire is the author of Incest: It’s All Relative, a performance/dance poem that toured nationally from 1982–86. Other performance poems include Corpus Callosum, the original Standing with Trees, Sports and Art, and Wild Card Anatomy. Spitfire's poetry and essays have appeared in Currents: The Journal for Body-Mind Centering®.

With a master's degree in Women’s Studies, extensive training in bodywork, movement, creative arts and psycho-physical integration, Spitfire began pioneering work utilizing these modalities with trauma survivors in 1983.

Under the rubric of Moving Matters, Spitfire now teaches a wide variety of integrative body-mind workshops, and embodied anatomy classes, as well as trainings for working with the “body and trauma.” Based in Belfast ME, she works at home and abroad as a certified practitioner and teacher of Body-Mind Centering. Spitfire belongs to the Ordered Chaos of the Original and Wild Lotus.

Karin Spitfire won an Honorable Mention in the Maine Writer's and Publishers Literary Awards 2008, for her book Standing with Trees.
